Senior Year Miss List

It's never too late to talk about Whitney, right? Well I guess maybeso if I try to remember everything I want to... but not too late for the eager reader! I'll be fine if you just read parts you're familiar with. So here... we... go!

I'm gonna miss trying to park awesomely in the Whitney parking lot.

2
I'm gonna miss 2nd period art with Ms. Agrums, barely making it to class on time, saying "Hi" quietly to Steffi (the only other "advance" artist), trying to paint when most of the lights were turned off for 2nd year slides, having my own shelf thing that slowly got more and more cluttered, watching the other 2nd year-ers do what I did last year and totally owning me in the face, going into the classroom at lunch and after school to finish my procrastinated pieces, and listening to Mrs. Agrums's zany lectures and stories. They weren't zany because of the content - they were zany because of her.

3
I'm gonna miss homeroom which gave me time to watch awesome Comiclub/IFF whittles and shirtless Pauls, and it also gave me time to study for some Jeans tests.

I'm gonna miss 3rd period Civics and Econ with Jeans. I USED to like Jeans, but then he got annoying. I'm gonna miss doing all those projects we did (they weren't torturous so much as time to work in a group with friends! but yeah sometimes they sucked), and I'm gonna miss doing really well in, like, two projects, acing econ tests because they matched Perry's review packets, sitting in the mecca of fun of CraigAnumCindyJaneJaydee and still being able to talk to my other friends outside the lil circle, being on the winning side of a debate, hating on the Jeans as a class, and... board freaking. Definitely gonna miss board freaking.

Break
I'm gonna miss snack, walking there and trying not to crack up FOR NO REASON AT ALL, then seeing Marina's face and laughing anyway. I'll miss having a todo list that would send me on little missions to do something (hey much like a MMORPG...), and I'll miss having absolutely nothing to do. I'll miss seeing everyone come back with a forever steaming and forever shrinking breakfast burrito that's only delicious to the most hungry. I'm gonna miss Michelle telling me we'll be late for Delgado, and then me telling Darren we're gonna be late for Delgado.

4
I'm gonna miss 4th period CalcH with Delgado, usually arriving on time with just a few seconds to spare. Yeah at times it was boring, but I'll miss switching back between intense note taking and intense drawing -cough-. I'll miss all the "group work" assignments that usually had 10 problems (30 minutes to solve each one mind you), I'm gonna miss when Delgado made her eyes bigger than her head, borrowing books from every-so-kind people, feeling really good about a MATH test I just took, looking out for lights off in Palmieri's room to know if we're watching a movie, mustard colored sweaters, and wondering what the heck Delgado's HUSBAND is like.

5
I'll miss 5th period English class with Palmieri, watching all those movies, doing pretty decent on those quote analyzation quizzes, getting time to "work on college essays", failing the comps but some how still get a passing grade, having no due dates, watching the class panic after finding out about a quiz (then realizing I'm just as screwed), and listening to a very talk woman speak in a coincidentally high voice.

I'm gonna miss 5th period (2nd semester) English with Mr. Dalley, all them craaazy lectures. I'll miss Dalley's ridiculous expressions, Paul Marshall impersonations, cynical criticisms of our lives, and recomposed perspectives of the world we once knew. His shocked face should totally have a staring contest with Delgado's big eyes. I'm gonna miss working on twenty group projects at the same time, the 10 point quizzes that were difficult and easy at the same time, listening to Paul and Jaydee taking insulting swipes at each other, hangin out with those two along with Jenny/Darren/Julie in the back of the room, doing presentations that include dancing and fat jokes, and having an English class that's fun yet interesting.

Break

I'll miss lunch time, eating under those tent things on the rocky tables, playing iPod in those big speakers a few times, getting front row seats to a bunch of shows near the quad, having absolutely nothing to do and having too much stuff to accomplish by the end of lunch, appreciating Wednesday and Friday for the hour long lunches. I'll miss all them Comiclub meetings where I talked a lot, and them VietClub meetings where I ate a lot. I'm gonna miss those pep rallies, seeing everyone in the school excited about some frivolous stuff, then singing the alma mater with anyone next to me.

6
I'm gonna miss 6th period contemporary media with Mr. Z, conceptualizing ideas, gathering actors props and equipment, and turning all our hard work into a kickass film. I'll miss getting to know all those juniors JonathanJoshStephanieSarah (along with CraigDiana of course), I'll miss the tense moments when Mr. Z was pissed, watching movies to study the directing, brainstorming and getting silly ideas like robin hood in tights (or something??), spending the whole period to just write scripts, being so frustrated when it was crunch time and stuff wasn't working out, avoiding mirrors while filming, getting bizarre shots that turned out great, creepy zooming in of little kids talking, nonsense conversations to test different types of mics, film festivals to show off our accomplishments, and everyone being satisfied with a final product.

7
I'm gonna miss Track and Cross Country, I love the teams so much. I'll miss going to practice reluctant to see coach, running so hard until someone barfs (then running some more), having little conversations with random teammates about anything, guessing whether or not Borah will beat Kimberly, running my butt off in a 400m dash, then trying to beat it, seeing everyone's face when I took roll, dilly dallying before practice just to see how everyone else is dilly dallying, practicing with blocks, drinking Javier's magic elixir that tasted like cereal, Cliff bars and "Gatorade", the holy tree of stretching, the holy bleachers of roll, comforting an injured teammate, getting tired from just plyos, pacing wall to walls on my watch, saving a bottle for Paul to recycle, being bothered that Paul took my bottle when I wasn't done, Kai-bai-bo's and dares, ninja and other ninja, pantsless James and shoes flying in the air, and Ellie poop stories. I'll definitely miss pasta parties (!!!) with "Angelic climbs", "Jaydee Ga Ga"s, truthordare with shirtless Lihans/Henrys. (I kinda threw XC and track together.)

I'll miss the actual meets too! I realized that I just talked mainly about practices.

XC
- I'll miss arriving at a course. It has just such an epic feel to it, I look all around and think "alright, this is the place I'm gonna run on the place I'm gonna conquer." I'm gonna miss the immense amount of tension and anticipation that always built up, as if we were going to fight war and knew we would come back dead. Everyone ran the same 3 miles too, and I'll miss the irreplaceable bond that could only be felt through pain, determination, and love.

Track
- I'll miss the family love, similar to XC's but a bit quirkier. I'll miss visiting the throwers who always seemed so chilled, and then running back to warm up for the -insert event name-, latching on my spikes, and handing off the baton with "STICKS" and a couple laps. I'm gonna miss all those people who helped me put my spikes on. I'll miss running in a relay race, finishng my leg dead tired, and almost tearing up to yell and make my teammates run even faster.

Both XC and Track
- I'm gonna miss the downtime between races where I got to hang out with everyone else and ask the dead tired people how their race was. I'll miss screaming my head off as I cheer for the runner to push them just that much more. I want to make them run faster, and I feel as though my voice would give them that boost of strength and energy to out kick anyone close. I'll miss when my teammates did the same for me.

Man I could write a much longer post about just these two sports, but I don't have time so I did my best to keep it short. All in all, I'm gonna miss running for my team.

FINALLY...

I'm gonna miss my class of 2009. Every single person. Even if I thought you were kinda weird, I'm gonna miss you. I'll still miss seeing everyone's face that gave me a sense of familiarity with my life. Thank you.

So there you go, guys! My Whitney mental closure. Tomorrow I start college at CSUF- along with my new Miss List for next year.

Feel week?

Obligation.

That's a cool word.

Yknow what's an even COOLER word?! Orbligortion. Haha. Sounds like alien poo.

Immaturities aside, I felt obligated to update my Kanga. Actually, I felt that way every day of this week, but my scheduling was a bit out of wack, I was sick, and I was busy getting food out of those 4 new holes in my mouth. I can't post when I'm constantly rinsing my mouth!

But today is Sunday, I have free time, I don't feel AS sick, and my mouth is pretty much clean. Time to fulfill my orbligortion.

Last Friday
Whitney vs. Oxford B(boy)ball game!

Since I missed Whitney's homecoming due to a bad case of cheekplosions, I decided to watch Oxford's game at their school! EXCITIN' STUFF, MAN! Summary o' da game: Ox totally made fun our cheer squad, and then we totally owned them by cheering along with their lil act, and they were like "what da eff", and then later on we cheered them on again for being jerky, and then they cheered us on for cheering them on, which made no sense and it kinda awkward cuz we were just cheering for each other, and then later they got pissed so they lined up along the court, and then all our players were awesome and we beat them by almost 30 points again.

That deserves a little bit of "WE TOTALLY", and a tad bit of "OOWWNED!"!

Rivalry can be fun.

Speaking of rivalry!

Last Sunday
Superbowl!

If Kevin is gonna watch any kind of bowl, it OF COURSE has to be the SUPER bowl, right!? Hoho... Yeah I actually watched the whoooole thing! First time ever. Well okay, I did switch between the Super Bowl and the Chowder Bowl (Chowder is arguably more imaginative), but the Super Bowl was SO exciting I couldn't NOT finish the game! I was rooting for the underdogish Cardinals, btw.

Favorite Super Bowl commercial as seen in my profile:

HAHAHAHA DAYDREAM PUNCHING SMALL ANIMALS!! Increasingly hilarious.

Monday
Nothing!

Tuesday
Free food!

Breakfast at 6:30am at Denny's for $0?! Yes, priceless meals. Beat that, Master Card commercials. Apparently this was Denny's response to the recession? Or maybe they just had a surplus of pancakes? Or maybe they like getting people fat? Whatever the reason, FREE FOOD is GOOD FOOD!

Oh barely made it back to school in time.

Wednesday
I used to doubt the intelligence of the people in my class. Not the book smart stuff, they're good at that, they can all totally kick my cheeks in chess, backgammon, Jeans tests, spelling quizzes, SATACTS, and knowing why kids loves Cinnamon Toast Crunch so much. I'm just saying that I used to think that when it came to common sense or whatever, most of us just sorta followed whatever whoever told em. Yeah I know that's sorta a bad assumption.

But then in Econ, I heard all of these "Last Lectures", speeches from students about what wisdom about life they'd like to share. And yknow, it made everyone sound preeetty profound. I thought it was all gonna be like "no regrets!" and "try your best!", surface level wussy Jell-O, but most of the time I was actually quite impressed with their advice. Yay. Again, it's a horrible assumption that SOME Whitneyites aren't too "hot in thought", I'm sorry, but I think my pereception has really changed. Oh God that last part of the sentence sounded like a college esssay. I should stop talking about this.

Thursday
On Thursday I broke my garage. Yes you read that correctly, I BROKE MY GARAGE. My garage door, actually. Ysee I was backing the van out after I drove it in for shelter from the rain, and then the antenna got caught on... something, I'm not sure exactly what happened. Next thing I knew, screw things were popping out all over the place when I tried to close the door. Did noot see it coming.

Those wheel things should not be on the ground.

I spent all afternoon trying to fix it. Got my hands all dirty and received a couple cuts. After more than an hour and a half trying to shield the garage from the pouring rain, it got stuck on the wall so I just had to wait until my dad got home. Turns out some cable broke. Yes he got pissed. Yes he called a repair man. Yes it was expensive.

Honestly, if I had the ability to write "SORRY" in the sky with the clouds, I totally would (because that would be really awesome). But right now it's cool, my parents are quite forgiving when it comes to very accidental accidents.

Friday
Sick!

I am so sick of my sickness. I actually got sick on Wednesday, then it died down on Thursday, then it got worse today, Friday. Coughing, sneezing, sore throat, chills, ingrown nosehair (which, if long enough, would just become regular hair outside my nose). I had all the symtoms! The weird part was my temperatures on the various days (color coded for convenience):

Wed: 100.5
Fri: 97.7
Sat: 99.7
Sun: 98.2

What the heck is that?! Fever? Cold? Make up your mind or just heal! Silly body.

Saturday - Sunday
Raaaiiin!

And finally... rain! It's been raining for the past few days, and I'd have loved it like a panda riding a zebra, but I'm SICK, so it's a lot harder to appreciate cold water falling from the sky.

Alright, so time for reflection. What did you learn from this week, Kevin?

Well, Kevin, I learned that sports are exciting, Mondays are boring, free food is delicious, I shouldn't underestimate people, antenna on large cars are annoying, being sick sucks, and rain is still as awesome as poppy seeds in a poppy seed muffin. I like poppy seed muffins.

awws NAPS!

SCHOOL IS EATING UP MY LIFE! It's like The Cookie Monster is my life, and the cookies are periods of fun. Dude, could you imagine if The Cookie Monster and Pac-Man battled each other? HAVOC!! I mean the Monster has that insanity edge, but Pac-Man sure can deal some damage with his "waga-waga"s.

Whoever the winner, these days I'm often like "Alright, time to type this event up in my Kanga!!" But frankly my dear, I don't have a damn... amount of time!

I'll try to make this post a recap of issues worth recapping. ALSO, I'll make this easy to read.

Just a thought
I think people who speak English with really thick accents can probably speak their native language beautifully.

HS Senior year so far
2-D Advanced Art (Agrums): Same ol' same ol'. HEY right now I'm drawing Jaydee hurdling. YAY I'll sell it to him for $50. HAH just kidding. BUT not really. BECAUSE I will.

Civics (Jeans): So much homework! Does he not know the immense amount of work a senior must deal with?! IT'S IMMENSE!! He's a cool guy though. I feel like people are reluctant to like him, even though people were much more open to liking Mr. Bohannon. Is that true, or am I just fiddle foddling facts?

Snack: The senior square sure is a long distance away from the Civics room.

CalcH (Delagdo): aka, nap time. HAHA MR. FUNDERBURK WROTE ON THE SMARTBOARD WITH DRY-ERASE MARKER!

I'm NOT gonna make a comment about drugs.

Engrish 4 (Palmeiri): This class is sorta bland, I dunno why. If all of my classes were types of breads, this class would be very bland bread.

Lunch: THANK YOU to whoever bought those canopies for our tables. I would die if we didn't have those. No like literally, collapse onto the floor from complaints and pass out until I melt into oblivion from the hot hot heat.

Contemporary Media (Ziolkowski): FUN STUFF! Making films are so fun. Maybe if I couldn't draw for crap (or draw crap), and maybe if I didn't love animating stuff, I'd get into film... although I guess cartoons are a form of film. Sorta.

Senior Baby Pic
This title is contradicting. So I don't THINK my baby picture went through when I turned it in, but OH WELL, yearbook will be missing out on ten fold the cuteness once in print.

Senior Survey
I WANTED A PIC OF MINE TO POST HERE! But I had to turn it in.

I got a new printer/scanner
IT'S SO AWESOME! If you need anything scanned, I'M READY AND WILLING! Well, I'm ready, I'm only willing if I'm not lazy at the moment. ALSO, I got a new computer monitor! It's about... 10x thinner than my ol' fatty.

Debacle
sounds like "debattle", which should be a real word. Half debate, half battle. Did you guys see the debate on Thursday with the potential VP's and stuff? I felt like it was a competition to see who was the most jerky, although Joe Biden was the only one competing. OOOOooo... okay I have nothing against him. But seriously. Mr. Biden, for a lack of better words, you are very attacky.

Also, the moderator Gwen Ifill just TOTALLY transported form the 70's.

CDs rule
because they have album art. I just got the new Anberlin CD New Surrender, and they taught me another word! "Haight", from their song "Haight Street". -Wiki-ing 5 seconds later- Alright it turns out Haight Street is a place. Haight is not a word, it's a name. But still! I learned a new place! If I'm ever in San Fran, I'll know where to go!

Other stuff
Now you (as in Elias, according to his comment) might be wondering what happened with that whole car dilemma now. Well to put it simply, uh... nothing, really. My van's bumper bent a little. It took me about a day to recover from "driving-in-reverse-phobia", and those Samoans never called us back. If anything develops, I'll be sure to Kanga it! (Unless I don't want to.)

Sos yeahs! I actually wrote most of this post last week, but I postponed this later than last week so I wouldn't disturb my previous entry. Cuz that last post, man. That was some serious doobie.

Oh and more news, IM TAKING THE SAT TOMORROW! Yes, I stopped studying just to post in my Kanga (or how Jessie could put it, my Kangs). I don't like cramming, okay? I like calming my mind before a test, oKAY?! And 'sides, I already studied for like 2.5 hours today. So break me off a piece of that Kit-Kat bar, OKAY?!

Alright...

Time to sleep. I need to rest for some serious test taking. So goodnight goodnight, you're EMBARRASSING me...
